Profile

Dr. Yang focuses his practice on patent prosecution, strategic patenting, and technology transfer.  He helps clients to build strong patent portfolios and monetize them and foreign clients to find licensees, patent buyers, and business partners in the U.S.

Dr. Yang has more than 8 years of work experience as a Patent Examiner at the USPTO.  He examined more than 500 patent applications in the fields of semiconductor devices, nanotechnology, alternative energy, displays (LEDs, and OLEDs), batteries, advanced organic/inorganic materials, and biosensors.  He authored Examiner Answers to the PTAB and advised the management board on patent examination/search strategy.

Prior to joining the USPTO, he was postdoctoral fellow at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Naval Research Laboratory.  He has authored/co-authored 33 research publications on a broad range of science and technology and is a recipient of the John G. Miller Award for the best PhD thesis in the Department of Chemistry, University of Pennsylvania.
